Class Schedules for 2026
(IN DEVELOPMENT - DATES BELOW)
Term 1 - Our Changing World
Primary-aged classes (fortnightly)
4th February - Uno's Garden
The first two sessions of the year focus on the impact of human activity on our world. Using the book ‘Uno’s Garden’ as a starting point, we will graph the relationship between human-made structures and the natural environment. We will conduct experiments to explore the result of this changed landscape on waterways and aquatic life.
18th February - Uno's Garden
The second session using ‘Uno’s Garden’ will focus on solving the problem of air pollution. We will conduct experiments to investigate the effect of carbon dioxide on air temperature, and explore ways to decrease airborne particles in the air.
4th March - Adaptations
To survive in this World, species have adapted to survive in different environments. Students look at the changes in birds in the Galapagos Islands as well as ways in which animals have adapted to their changing environment.
18th March - Simple Machines
In this twisting and turning session, students investigate the six simple machines that form the basis of our modern machinery. This fun filled session will have your child working with the laws of physics!
1st April - Rube Goldberg Machine
A Rube Goldberg Machine is a complex machine that is designed to carry out a simple task. Students will create a series of chain reactions that transfer energy using simple machines. This is a dynamic fun filled session!
Secondary-aged classes (fortnightly)
11th February - The Greenhouse Effect
The year kicks off with a look at carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. How the increase in carbon dioxide resulted in the Greenhouse Effect which produced life on Earth and how if the carbon dioxide level increases too much it can result in an Enhanced Greenhouse Effect.
25th February - Simple Machines
Over time, humans and animals have learnt to use tools to help over time. In this session, we look at different types of Simple Machines and students make a “Grabber” using levers.
11th March - Adaptations
To survive in this world, species have adapted to thrive in different environments. Students look at the changes in birds in the Galapagos Islands as well as ways in which animals have adapted to their changing environment.
25th March - Dissection
As an extension to last weeks session, students will compare the internal structures of two organisms and how they have changed to suit their environments. (One organism between two students to study along with a teacher demonstration of a different organism).
Term 2 - Pew! Pew!
Primary-aged classes (fortnightly)
29th April - Under Attack!
In this Star Wars inspired session, students investigate the properties of lasers and see if they can bend the light to reach a target.
13th May - Sparks Fly!
In this dynamic chemistry session students investigate reactions that produce light, sparks and sound!
27th May - Can You Beat the Cheetah?
Can you beat the cheetah? In this fast paced session, students investigate speed and how organisms have been able to overcome air resistance and utilise friction to create explosive speed. They will then design something that could go fast!
10th June - 3, 2, 1, Launch!
In the next two sessions, propulsion methods will be used to investigate Newton’s Laws. Concluding with the launching of rockets. (weather permitting).
24th June - 3, 2, 1, Launch!
In this final session for the term, propulsion methods will be used to investigate Newton’s Laws. Concluding with the launching of rockets. (weather permitting).
Secondary-aged classes (fortnightly)
22nd April - Rube Goldberg Machine
A Rube Goldberg Machine is a complex machine that is designed to carry out a simple task. Students will create a series of chain reactions that transfer energy using simple machines (Learned during Term 1).
6th May - Sparks Fly!
In this dynamic chemistry session students investigate reactions that produce light, sparks and sound!
20th May - Can You Beat the Cheetah?
In this fast paced session, students investigate speed and how organisms have been able to overcome air resistance, utilise friction and energy conservation to create explosive speed.
3rd June - Relationships in the Environment
In this session, students investigate the different types of relationships in the environment and then focus on predator prey relationships and the tools both animals have to evade the predator or capture the prey.
17th June - STEM Challenge
In this challenge, students use the knowledge learned throughout the year to build the fastest elastic wind up car. They will need to design, build and race their vehicle choosing from different materials to minimise resistance and maximise friction.
Term 3 - Fabulous Faces of Food
Primary-aged classes (fortnightly)
22nd July - Stunt Food!
In this session, students learn how food is used in movies to create the illusion you see on film. Students make items using food such as sugared glass and investigate how sounds can be reproduced for film using food.

15th July - Stunt Food!
In this session, students learn how food is used in movies to create the illusion you see on film. Students make items using food such as sugared glass and investigate how sounds can be reproduced for film using food.
29th July - Beetlejuice
In this session, students investigate the origins of dyes (including food dyes). They will ground up substances such as cochineal bugs to produce natural dyes and then use their homemade dyes to tie dye a pair of socks.
12th August - Gut Microbiota
In this session, students learn about the importance of the microorganisms in the Gut and how we can support a healthy digestive system. Students will make cultured and fermented foods to take home being mindful of different microorganisms using food Chemistry principles.
26th August - Smelly Science
When we smell something, these are nanoparticles entering our nostrils! In this session, students learn about their sense of smell, how nanoparticles can permeate through substances and where nanoparticles are actually used in some everyday products.
9th September - What is the difference between Chocolate & Chewing Gum?
Why do our bodies break down chocolate but not chewing gum? In this session, students learn about enzymes to investigate the digestion of different foods.
Term 4 - Our Oceans
Primary-aged classes (fortnightly)
14th October - Ocean Buffers
Our ecosystems have processes that help to maintain stable environments for life to flourish. Our oceans have a powerful buffering system to stabilise pH. In this session, students investigate how buffers work and what happens if the buffering system can no longer maintain a stable environment.
28th October - Luminous Light
How do we move and see through the water? Ever wondered what fish see? How is water different from air when it comes to light? If we find seeing through water so difficult, how could submarines overcome this problem? All these questions will be answered in this curious session.
11th November -
In this session
25th November - Life in Water
In this session, students investigate the conditions for life in water. The experiment will involve exposing microscopic organisms to different conditions to see how resilient they are to changes in their environment.
9th December - STEM Challenge - STEM Zone Regatta!
The Ultimate Maritime Challenge! Students investigate the components of a floating vehicle, design one, build it and race it on our 3m Regatta!
Secondary-aged classes (fortnightly)
7th October - Ocean Buffers
Our ecosystems have processes that help to maintain stable environments for life to flourish. Our oceans have a powerful buffering system to stabilise pH. In this session, students investigate how buffers work and what happens if the buffering system can no longer maintain a stable environment.
21st October - Wonderful Water
In this session, students investigate the amazing properties of water including surface tension and water as a solvent as well as substances that can hold on to an extraordinary amount of water!
